Modbook Pro 2.5Ghz

The Modbook® Pro's latest generation Intel dual-core base system makes it the most powerful pen tablet computer available today. show more » This allows full desktop versions of processor-intensive applications such as Avid® Media Composer™ or Adobe® Photoshop® to run without compromise and on-the-go.

Note: The processor is a soldered onto the motherboard and can therefore not be upgraded at a later time. Please consider your potential future needs carefully when choosing your base system. « show less

More memory will generally improve your overall system performance and allow you to work with more applications at the same time. Only Modbook Pro memory upgrade options are guaranteed to work flawlessly with your Modbook Pro. show more »

All Modbook Pro components are specifically selected, designed, tested and calibrated for use in the Modbook Pro. This is important, because critical components, such as the internal pen digitizer, are vulnerable to rogue RF and EM emissions. Non-Modbook Pro components are likely to reduce or even disrupt system performance, potentially rendering the Modbook Pro unusable.

The internal memory can be upgraded at any time by every Modbook authorized service center or directly through Modbook Inc for a low $60 service fee, which includes 3-way UPS ground shipping (not including memory upgrade, US customers only).

Note: Enduser upgrades will void the Modbook Pro Protection Plan. « show less

Using Boot Camp®, a multi-boot utility included with the Base System's OS X, you can install Microsoft® Windows® 7 on a second partition on your Modbook Pro's internal solid state drive, and natively boot into Windows. show more » It is even possible, with the installation of additional third party software (not included) to run both OS X and run Windows 7 simultaneously.

More detailed information about how you can use Boot Camp to configure a dual boot Windows / OS X install can be found here, or you can simply order a trouble-free pre-installation per your configuration requirements using the dynamic selection panels further below.

Note: Additional third party software required to run both OS X and Windows 7 simultaneously is not included. « show less

Our pre-installation service offers you the easiest way to start using the two leading desktop operating systems, OS X and Windows 7, side-by-side: right out of the box! show more » And if you are not that familiar yet with either one of the two environments, we make sure your Modbook Pro is configured right according to your requirements and opens up right into your favorite operating systems.

First, please let us know below into which (primary) operating system you want your Modbook Pro to boot when you first start it up.

Note: You can change this preference later at any time using the Startup Disk control panels in both OS X and Windows 7. « show less

Installing Windows 7 requires the primary internal solid state drive to be split into two partitions, one for OS X and the other for Windows 7. Please select how you would like us to divide the available disk space between your two operating systems. show more »

If you are using the secondary operating system every once in a while with only a handful applications, we recommend you use assign your primary OS the largest possible storage space.

Note: While the partition size can be changed at a later time, it is not a simple procedure and will likely require the formatting of the whole drive as well as a complete re-installation of both operating systems and all applications. More information about how to administer and maintain your dual-boot install can be found in the Apple® documentation for Boot Camp™ here. « show less

The Modbook Pro Digitizer Pen features Wacom's patented cordless, battery-free technology, in a sleek marble white body that contrasts nicely with the beautifully elegant black Modbook Pro chassis, and makes it easy to not loose sight of it. show more »

The pen supports 1,024 levels of pressure-sensitivity on the tip and eraser (only when used on a Modbook Pro), and features a dual button rocker side switch that can be customized for two frequently-used shortcuts and modifiers.

When not used, the Digitizer Pen tucks conveniently away in the Modbook Pro's built-in pen garage, securely held by a completely non-contact magnetic catch mechanism. This allows the forward two-third of the pen to be completely smooth and straight, with a soft curving transition toward the pen tip, providing pleasant gripping positions for every hand and technique.

Each Modbook Pro Digitizer Pen also includes a Nib pack, containing the following:
3 × Standard Nib (White)
3 × Stroke (spring-powered) Nib (Grey)
5 × Felt Nib (Black)
1 × Nib removal tool

Note: Every Modbook Pro we ship, already includes one Modbook Pro Digitizer Pen and Nib pack. Choose this option if you like to add a spare. « show less

The Modbook Pro USB 3.0 PortDoubler is a compact solution for doubling the available USB 3.0 ports on the Modbook Pro from one to two. It also allows the connection of those USB devices, such as certain thumb flash drives, that are too big to fit into the standards-conforming port of the Modbook Pro. show more »

The PortDoubler supports the full USB 3.0 data bandwidth (up to 5 Gbps) and is backward compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices, enabling the use of nearly any type of USB peripheral and device, regardless of its age.

When used in combination with other low power devices (such as mice, keyboards, flash drives, etc.) two PortDoublers can be chained to further increase the number of ports.

Note: The aggregate power draw of all connected USB devices combined, including the Modbook Pro USB 3.0 PortDoubler, can not exceed 500 mA in order for the connected devices to function properly.

Note: Every Modbook Pro we ship, already includes one Modbook Pro USB 3.0 PortDoubler. Choose this option if you like to add a spare. « show less

The internal graphic hardware of your Modbook Pro allows you to directly connect to up to two external displays and extend your desktop across all screens, including the built-in display, simultaneously. show more »

Most Single Head solutions (Single Head means only one display connected) require only the addition of the appropriate adapter cable to connect to the built-in Thunderbolt port, and there are adapters for most every display type available.

However, Dual Head solutions (Dual Head means two displays connected) that extend the desktop across all connected displays, work only in certain configurations, with the addition of certain hardware, and with certain limitations.

The following dynamic selection panels will allow you to configure a display solution that is complete and sure to work right out of the box. « show less

Connecting your Modbook Pro to a single external display allows you to either mirror your Modbook Pro system's internal screen at 1280 by 800 pixels, or extend your desktop and add up to 2560 by 1600 pixel on the external display. show more »

In addition to standard displays, you can also choose displays you can draw on, just like on your Modbook Pro. Using the very industry leading Wacom® pen digitizer technology from which your Modbook Pro derives its own pen support, these pen-enabled displays offer you the largest and highest resolution drawing space you can install onto your desktop.

Note: You can not use the pen of a pen-enabled external Wacom display to draw on the Modbook Pro or vice versa. Even though they are both based on the same underlying technology, their implementations are optimized for their respective use in the two distinctly different hardware environments: external displays versus tablet computer systems. « show less

This original Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter supports display resolutions of up to 1920×1200 pixels. It connects to the built-in DVI-D cable of your selected Wacom Cintiq 22HD to the Thunderbolt port of your Modbook Pro.

This active high-speed Monster® cable directly connects your high resolution display to the Thunderbolt® port of your Modbook Pro over a distance of up to 8 feet. show more » It supports the maximum resolution of your selected display, and maximizes the signal strength through its 24k gold contacts, low-loss nitrogen gas-injected dielectric, and heavy-duty yet ultra-flexible triple-layer shielding.

Note: If you have other Thunderbolt devices connected to your Modbook Pro, you need to connect the display last in the chain, and you need to make sure that the other devices ahead in the chain implement the DisplayPort™ PassThrough feature of Thunderbolt. For example, the Apple Thunderbolt Display does not support this feature, and so would not allow your selected display to be connected to it. « show less

Your Modbook Pro supports through its Thunderbolt port theoretically Dual Head solutions with up to 5020 by 1600 pixels (two external displays, 2560 by 1600 pixel each) in addition to its built-in display with 1280 by 800 pixels. show more »

The maximum resolution you can currently realize is 5020 by 1440 pixel using two Apple Thunderbolt displays (2560 by 1440 pixel each). However, the Apple Thunderbolt display is the least flexible, as Apple currently only supports the use of its displays in Apple-only Dual Head configurations, and it is not supported under Windows 7 (= only one display at any one time will work).

Much more flexible but currently limited to up to 3840 by 1200 pixel (two external displays, 1920 by 1200 pixel each) are solutions using an additional Multi Display Adapter which allow you to connect non-Thunderbolt monitors to your Modbook Pro system's Thunderbolt port. These are the only Dual Head configurations that will work seamlessly both under OS X and Windows 7.
These configurations also support displays, such as the 30-inch HP® ZR30w, with higher native resolutions, but such monitors will only work in full screen zoom mode, in other words the maximum pixels available through the Multi Display Adapter will be zoomed across the monitor's full screen. Because this limitation is due to the currently available Multi Display Adapter hardware, future adapters may be able to fully unlock those display's higher resolutions.

These dynamic selection panels allow you to configure a display solution in any allowable combination, including one or two pen-enabled Wacom Cintiq® displays, that is complete and sure to work right out of the box.
Please chose any of the listed displays below as your first display. The order in which you choose is not important, as you will be able to configure your primary and secondary display in your operating system's preferences on the fly. « show less

Apple currently does not allow the use of its Thunderbolt Displays in combination with any other monitors in a Dual Head configuration. show more » However, your selection of dual Apple Thunderbolt Displays achieves the maximum resolution of 5020 by 1440 pixel directly supported by your Modbook Pro today.

Apple Thunderbolt Displays are connected through simple daisy chaining. Just plug the built-in Thunderbolt cable of the first display into your Modbook Pro and then the cable of the second display into the built-in Thunderbolt port of the first display. The unused Thunderbolt port of the second display can be used to add additional Thunderbolt devices to the chain, such as the Modbook Pro Spinner portable hard drive.

Note: This Dual Head configuration is currently not directly supported under Windows 7. If you boot into Windows 7, only the first Apple Thunderbolt Display will become operational. « show less

The selection of a non-Thunderbolt display requires this additional Multi Display Adapter to build the Dual Head solution for your Modbook Pro. show more » Providing the maximum flexibility for selecting the display configuration of your choice, the Matrox® DualHead2Go™ Digital Mac Edition allows for resolutions to 3840 by 1200 pixel (two external displays, up to 1920 by 1200 pixel each).

Using the included cable, it is powered directly from the USB port of your Modbook Pro. If you need to connect additional USB devices, you can install an additional third party USB hub (not included).

Note: Dual Head configurations built with this adapter will work seamlessly both under OS X and Windows 7 « show less

You can combine non-Thunderbolt displays with the above pre-selected Multi Display adapter to achieve resolutions of up to 3840 by 1200 pixel (two external displays, 1920 by 1200 pixel each). show more »

These combinations also support displays with higher native resolutions such as the 30-inch HP ZR30w. However, those monitors will only work in full screen zoom mode, in other words the maximum pixels available through the Multi Display Adapter will be zoomed across the monitor's full screen. Because this limitation is due to the currently available Multi Display Adapter hardware, future adapters may be able to fully unlock higher display resolutions.

Using the included cables, the two displays are connected to the Multi Display adapter, which in turn is connected to the Thunderbolt port of your Modbook Pro. The adapter is powered directly from the USB port of your Modbook Pro (cable included). If you need to connect additional USB devices, you can install an additional third party USB hub (not included).

Note: This Dual Head configurations will work seamlessly both under OS X and Windows 7 « show less

At least one of your selected displays is being limited by the Multi Display Adapter hardware to a maximum of 1980 by 1200 pixels. This limitation may be overcome at some point in the future, if and when certain rumored and/or announced third party products that utilize advanced Thunderbolt® features become commercially available. show more »

Modbook Inc is actively pursuing such cutting edge developments in an effort to enable the full potential of your Modbook Pro.

If you are interested to learn about those future products that can further unlock your selected Dual Head Display Solution please let us know below and we will reach out to you as soon as we can make them available. « show less

The Modbook Pro system's built-in QuickClicks™ on-screen keyboard (OS X only) is a great on-the-go solution for quickly naming files or entering your password at the login screen, but there are times when a physical keyboard just can't be beat. show more »

The state-of-the-art light-powered Logitech® keyboards combine the best features available: high quality, light-weight, no wires and no batteries. Available in advanced 2.4 GHz wireless (Mac or PC) or Bluetooth (Mac only) they are charging themselves with lamp- or sunlight, making running out of batteries a thing of the past. « show less
